About Your Home Visit
Offering care within a holistic perspective, mothers receive help with issues such as positioning, latch, milk supply, soreness, infant weight gain, and much more:
|
If you're having concerns with positioning or latch, infant weight gain, milk supply, or pain and tenderness with feeding, a consultation with a lactation consultant can help! Consults provide mothers with reassurance and anticipatory guidance on how to manage breastfeeding concerns. In addition to providing guidance for getting off to a great start, reaching out for help early prevents additional challenges.
During a consult, a complete mother-baby history is reviewed for accurate assessment and guidance. Observation of positioning and latch occurs; assistance and suggestions are offered to address any concerns. Along with reviewing position and latch, the baby's suck strength, tone, and infant oral anatomy are evaluated for any potential impact on feeding. A before and after feeding weight check determines how effectively your baby is transferring milk from the breast.
An individualized care plan is developed for guidance based on your situation. Recommendations often include an effective combination of strategies. Non-pharmacological therapies, herbal supplements, and sometimes pharmaceuticals are suggested. Mothers are welcome to ask follow-up questions via text, phone, and email at no additional charge. Follow-up consultations are available. Initial consults last about an hour and a half.
$175 for the initial visit
$105 for any requested follow-ups
Please Note: A letter for insurance purposes that includes a provider NPI number and diagnostic codes is available. With proper documentation, many insurances reimburse for lactation services.
